Miranda
This is a poem about Uranus's moon 'Miranda'. Miranda is often theorised to have been split apart and pulled herself back together with nothing but gravity, and I liked the rawness of that.
Clinging to Herself
a self-fulfilling self-attached lifeline
maintaining structure
through sheer force of will
broken and unmade
torn asunder
hanged drawn and quartered
by something unknown
something waiting in the endless
darkness of the silent void
the reassembly
takes all the strength She
has left to give but
She gives it
She must give it
in the hope of tomorrow’s dawn
clawing Her way back
along gravity’s intangible rope
and the survival
holds no accolades
except for the scar
Verona Rupes
and the knowledge that
She is immortal
there is no greater prize
the stars sing it silently
elegy and fanfare
neither and both
all my love She answers
there is not much to give
but every drop is yours
and She keeps on clinging.
