Pond Swimmer

women slip like seals in the black
the sun dropping silver coins on the surface

fawns on the far side
wait to release their skin
from summer’s itch

I let my body dissolve
as salt might, head bobbing
like a buoy out to sea

the days before shed in a breath
bones held up in offering to the sky
